Orangeville blows out Mississauga, 3-0

The Mississauga Chargers had trouble finding ways to stop the Orangeville Flyers, which beat Chargers, 3-0.

Orangeville was paced by Lucas Smilsky, who tallied one goal and one assist. Smilsky scored 33 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Orangeville. James McLaughlin picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:57 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

The Flyers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. Orangeville had been averaging 13.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Mississauga power plays. Orangeville's defense was surprisingly good. The Flyers average 2.2 goals allowed per game. Orangeville's offense rang up 41 shots on Mississauga's net.

Others who scored for Orangeville included Connor Stack and Callum Cusinato, who scored one goal each. In addition, Orangeville received assists from James Ranson, who had one.

The Chargers were often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and two majors for 34 minutes in penalty time. Mississauga surpassed its season average of 28.0 penalty minutes per game. The Chargers stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississauga's offense operated below its season average. The Chargers average 2.5 goals per game.

Nicholas Latinovich made 22 saves for Orangeville on 22 shots. The Flyers registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Team's John DiLorenzo, Colin Rigney, and Kosta Likourezos were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Andrew Cipollone recorded 38 saves for Mississauga. For the Chargers, Steve Mariani and Brandon Yeamans were ejected from the contest.
