Toronto Jr. Canadiens survives Oakville comeback, wins 7-5

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens survived a determined comeback attempt by the Oakville Blades on the way to a 7-5 win.

A goal by Nico Gonzalez put Toronto Jr. Canadiens up 7-4 in the third period, but Oakville pulled to within two on Jackson Bales's tally 18:14 into the third period.

The Junior Canadiens got the win with help from a great game by Justin Maiolino, who had two goals and one assist. Maiolino scored the first of his two goals at 9:59 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Andrew Mullen provided the assist. Maiolino's next tally made the score 6-4 Toronto Jr. Canadiens with 8:18 left in the third period. David Zeppieri picked up the assist.

The Blades were unable to stop Toronto Jr. Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and the Junior Canadiens eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Toronto Jr. Canadiens' goal total was higher than its season average. The Junior Canadiens average 3.6 goals per game.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens additionally got points from Gonzalez, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Lucas Colalillo, who also had one goal and one assist. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also had goals scored by Lee Lapid, Anthony Trujillo, and Adam DeLuca, who each put in one. More assists for Toronto Jr. Canadiens came via Andrew Pucci, George Novachis, Daniel Tomassetti, Daniel Lopapa, and Eric Eremita, who contributed one each.

Oakville's offense rang up 33 shots on Toronto Jr. Canadiens' net.

Oakville also got points from Tyler Rollo, who also registered one goal and one assist, Drew Worrad, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Christian Rajic, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Oakville received assists from Patrick Kudla, Daniel Jelic, Brayden Sampson, and Josh Kosack, who each chipped in one.

Lopapa rejected 28 shots on goal for the Junior Canadiens. Toronto Jr. Canadiens totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Junior Canadiens ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alex Lee was ejected from the game. The Blades' Brendan McGlynn stopped 28 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Oakville incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
