St. Michaels rides McGrath to victory over Milton, 6-1

Jacob McGrath had a standout game with 36 saves, and the St. Michaels Buzzers beat the Milton Icehawks 6-1.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 9:45 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

St. Michaels' offense rang up 52 shots on Milton's net. The Buzzers bested their season scoring average. St. Michaels has scored at the pace of 2.6 goals per game during the current campaign.

The Buzzers were helped by Sean Kohler, who racked up two goals. Kohler scored the first of his two goals at 4:41 into the third period to make the score 2-0 St. Michaels. Kohler's next tally made the score 6-0 St. Michaels with 1:13 left in the third period. A fighting penalty on Dawson Shackelton had put St. Michaels on the power play. Thomas Beretta picked up the assist. St. Michaels also got points from Beretta, who also registered one goal and one assist and A.J. Dorazio, who also tallied one goal and one assist. St. Michaels also had goals scored by Luke Branco and Colton Trumbla, who scored one goal each. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Noah Jordan, who had three and Sam Hunter, Mark Paolini, Cameron Searles, and Cameron Wright, who contributed one each.

The Icehawks forced the Buzzers goalie McGrath to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

St. Michaels totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Team's Finn Evans and Searles were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Jakob DeVincentis recorded 46 saves for Milton. The Icehawks totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. Milton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Shackelton was ejected from the game.
