Markham erases deficit to stun Aurora, 4-3Markham Centennial Centre Sun, Oct 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Markham Royals climbed out of a two-goal hole to beat the Aurora Tigers, 4-3. Markham let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Royals took a 3-2 advantage on a power play goal by Hudson Michaelis at 17:43 in the second period. Markham went down 2-0 after Aurora's Jordan DaSilva put the puck home on the power play at 9:35 in the first period. After tying things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alex Formenton at 19:08 in the second, the Royals got the game-winner from Rylee St. Onge at 7:44 in the third period. St. Onge was all over the ice for Markham, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. St. Onge scored the first of his two goals at 6:55 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Aurora. Jason OConnor picked up the assist. St. Onge's next tally made the score 4-3 Markham with 12:16 left in the third period. The Royals earned a power play opportunity when Liam Ham was put in the box for high sticking. Nick Thomakos assisted on the tally. The Tigers were unable to stop Markham from sending pucks towards the net, and the Royals eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. Markham had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances. Markham also got a goal from Jeff Joynt as well. In addition, Markham received assists from Matthew Dunlop, Marco Azzano, Lucas Condotta, Trevor Abbot, and Jonathan Prasnjak, who contributed one each. Aurora could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. The Tigers were helped by Darren Iwai, who registered one goal. Iwai scored 5:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Other players who recorded assists for Aurora were Ryan Bazzana and Liam Neuman, who each chipped in one. The Royals' Nathan Colitto stopped 13 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Markham incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Alex Brooks-Potts rejected 38 shots on goal for Aurora. The Tigers registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Aurora, Alex Boudreau and Matthew Bernard were ejected from the contest.
