Toronto Jr. Canadiens falls apart in second, loses to North York, 6-1

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens allowed the North York Rangers to net four goals during the second period and fell, 6-1.

North York was led by goalie Jeremie Lintner, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. Lintner certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.39 entering the contest.

The Rangers were paced by Ryan Takamatsu, who racked up one goal. Takamatsu scored on the power play 1:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 North York. A boarding penalty on Sal Filice had put North York on the power play. Grayden Gottschalk assisted on the tally.

The Rangers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. North York's goal total was higher than its season average. The Rangers average 3.8 goals per game.

North York also got points from Nick Campoli, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for North York included Ryan Hunt, Fedor Rudakov, Louis Kereakou, and Jake Harris, who scored one goal each. More assists for North York came via Kyle Clarke, Michael Morgan, and Nick Zanette, who contributed one each and Ted Hunt and Keegan Blasby, who each chipped in two.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was held below its usual level of production. The Junior Canadiens average 3.5 goals per game. Toronto Jr. Canadiens struggled on the penalty kill, allowing North York to score three power play goals on five chances. The Junior Canadiens were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 36 penalty minutes.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens was led by Justin Maiolino, who scored the team's only goal. Maiolino scored 6:20 into the second period to make the score 2-1 North York. Anthony Trujillo picked up the assist.

The Rangers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Brendan Bonello took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Daniel Lopapa who made four saves. The Junior Canadiens ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Joffe was ejected from the game.
