Giusti leads Pickering to shutout victory over Mississauga

Paul Giusti made 31 saves to complete the shutout and led the Pickering Panthers to a 4-0 win against the Mississauga Chargers.

Pickering was led by Davis Kuksis, who racked up one goal and one assist. Kuksis scored 14:18 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering. Chris Sekelyk assisted on the tally.

The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Mississauga was unable to stop Pickering from sending pucks towards the net, and the Panthers eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Pickering additionally got points from John Hudgin, who also registered one goal and one assist and Kyler Challis, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Pickering also got a goal from Tiger McDonald as well. In addition, Pickering received assists from Owen Scuralli and Justin Bennett, who each chipped in one.

The Chargers stifled Pickering's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mississauga was held below its usual level of production. The Chargers average 2.6 goals per game. Mississauga's offense rang up 31 shots on the Panthers' net.

Pickering incurred 36 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tyler Richardson made 29 saves for the Chargers on 33 shots. Mississauga incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
