Orangeville's Smilsky deadly on offense in 3-1 win against Trenton

The Orangeville Flyers relied on the scoring touch of Lucas Smilsky, who netted two goals, to beat the Trenton Golden Hawks, 3-1.

Smilsky's tallies came at 4:14 into the third period to make the score 1-1 and 16:15 into the third to make the score 3-1 Orangeville.

Trenton was stymied by Orangeville's netminder Nicholas Latinovich, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Latinovich certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.75 entering the contest.

The Flyers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Ethan Wiseman also scored for Orangeville. More assists for Orangeville came via Connor Stack, who had two and James Ranson, James McLaughlin, and Derek Topatigh, who each chipped in one.

The Golden Hawks stifled Orangeville's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Trenton did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Golden Hawks average 3.9 goals per game.

Trenton was led by Mitch Emerson, who scored the team's only goal. Emerson scored 5:58 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Trenton. Danny Hanlon assisted on the tally.

The Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Daniel Urbani made 27 saves for the Golden Hawks on 30 shots. Trenton incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. For the Golden Hawks, Mac Lewis was ejected from the game.
