Georgetown outlasts Burlington, 6-4Appleby Arena Fri, Oct 09, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Georgetown Raiders escaped with a 6-4 victory over the Burlington Cougars. Georgetown gained the winning advantage on a goal by Anthony Mota 5:02 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. The Raiders excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Georgetown surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Raiders average 3.6 goals per game. Georgetown was led by Josh Dickinson, who grabbed two goals. Dickinson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 47 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Daniel Hardie assisted on the tally. Dickinson's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Burlington with 12:30 left in the second period. Michael Boushy picked up the assist. Georgetown also got points from Hardie, who also registered one goal and one assist. Georgetown also had goals scored by Brendan Jacome and Matthew Cairns, who each put in one. Burlington forced the Raiders goalie Andrew Masters to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. The Cougars were led by Ben Morris, who racked up two goals and one assist. Morris scored the first of his two goals at 2:27 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Burlington. Willy Paul provided the assist. Morris' next tally made the score 4-3 Burlington with 6:55 left in the second period. Mike Faliero picked up the assist. Burlington additionally got points from Nathan Gomes, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jack Jeffers also scored for Burlington. More assists for Burlington came via Zac Herrmann, David Thomson, and Daniel Volpe, who each chipped in one. Masters recorded 33 saves for Georgetown. The Raiders totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. For Georgetown, Bailey Molella was ejected from the game. Burlington's Andrew Lee stopped 23 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Cougars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
