Milton downs Mississauga, 5-2

Joseph Keenan racked up two points to lead the Milton Icehawks to a 5-2 victory over the Mississauga Chargers.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:46 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Milton racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 18.0 minutes per game the Icehawks had been spending in the box. Milton put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mississauga to score on any of its five power plays. The Icehawks bested their season scoring average. Milton averages 2.4 goals per game.

Milton also got points from Brett Markham, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Joseph Teofilo also scored for Milton. In addition, Milton received assists from Anthony Baxter, Jeff Lindsay, Philip Lagunov, Sean Robertson, and Chris Cobham, who each chipped in one.

The Chargers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Milton power plays. The Icehawks were unable to stop Mississauga from sending pucks towards the net, and the Chargers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Mississauga was led by Steve Mariani, who finished with one goal and one assist. Mariani scored 12:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Mississauga. Michael Dischiavi provided the assist. Mississauga also got a goal from Daniel Pereira as well. More assists for Mississauga came via Shane Beaulieu and Brandon Yeamans, who contributed one each.

Marcus Semiao rejected 35 shots on goal for Milton. Team's Marten Leclerc and Cobham were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Andrew Cipollone made 24 saves for the Chargers on 29 shots. Mississauga ended with 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors. For the Chargers, Jaimen Allison and Jake Harrison were ejected from the contest.
