Aurora downs Cobourg in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Daniel Mantenuto gave the Aurora Tigers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Cobourg Cougars when he scored 2:37 into the extra period.

With three goals and one assist between them, Todd Winder and Mantenuto teamed up to power Aurora's offense. Winder finished with two goals and one assist and Mantenuto also added one goal.

Cobourg was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as the Tigers were able to score four times while on the power play.

Aurora kept the Cougars' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Lewis made 34 saves on 39 shots. The Tigers' penalty kill unit could not stop Cobourg's power play, which converted on three of five opportunities.

Aurora also got points from Kyle Locke, who also registered one goal and one assist and Drake Board, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Aurora came via Liam Neuman, who had two and Jordan DaSilva, Alex Formenton, Nolan Dunn, and Liam Ham, who contributed one each.

The Cougars forced Aurora goalie Alex Brooks-Potts to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. Cobourg found itself short handed often, totaling 40 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays.

The Cougars were helped by Connor Inger, who grabbed two goals. Inger scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 8:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Cobourg. Cobourg earned a power play opportunity when Matthew Tozer was put in the box for kneeing. Theo Lewis assisted on the tally. Inger's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Cobourg with 4:06 left in the second period. A hooking penalty on Alex Boudreau had put the Cougars on the power play. Kallen McFarland provided the assist. Cobourg additionally got points from McFarland, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Sam Dunn also scored for Cobourg. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Ryan OGrady, who had two and Brenden Locke and Brennan Roy, who each chipped in one.

Brooks-Potts recorded 27 saves for the Tigers. Aurora incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
