Roy's goals lift Cobourg to 4-0 victory over WhitbyIroquois - Rink#1 Tue, Sep 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Cobourg Cougars relied on the scoring touch of Brennan Roy, who netted two goals, to beat the Whitby Fury, 4-0. Roy scored at 3:04 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg and again while 12:04 into the third to make the score 4-0 Cobourg.Cobourg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Whitby to score on any of its three power plays. The Cougars was steadier on the defensive front than they have been for much of this season. Cobourg averages 2.6 goals allowed per game. The Cougars forced the Fury goalie Jordon White to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Cobourg got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Kallen McFarland also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Sam Dunn and Theo Lewis, who contributed one each and Connor Inger and Anthony Salemi, who each chipped in two. Whitby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Fury could not produce up to their normal offensive output. Whitby averages 2.4 goals per game.
