Trenton holds on for 4-3 win against Cobourg

The Cobourg Cougars tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Trenton Golden Hawks held on for a 4-3 victory.

Trenton took a 4-2 lead during the second period, only to have Cobourg storm back on a Liam Grande goal 2:18 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

In the losing effort, the Cougars were led by Grande, who had two goals. Grande scored the first of his two goals at 11:57 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Anthony Salemi assisted on the tally. Grande's next tally made the score 4-3 Trenton with 17:42 left in the third period.

The Golden Hawks' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Trenton was helped by Spencer Herbst, who racked up one goal. Herbst scored 17:15 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Trenton. Liam Morgan picked up the assist. Trenton additionally got points from Morgan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Trenton also had goals scored by Jordan Chard and Quinn Lenihan, who each put in one. More assists for Trenton came via Lucas Brown, who had two and Adam Clements, Cole Langfield, Nick Boddy, Nicholas Turenko, and Ryan Smith, who each chipped in one.

Cobourg's offense rang up 31 shots on the Golden Hawks' net.

Brennan Roy also scored for Cobourg. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Matthew Bumstead, Sam Dunn, and Theo Lewis, who contributed one each.

Trenton's Daniel Urbani stopped 28 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Golden Hawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tyler Lewis made 26 saves for the Cougars on 30 shots. Cobourg incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
