Pickering wins tough contest against Milton, 4-2

The Pickering Panthers and the Milton Icehawks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Pickering made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Panthers gained the winning advantage on a goal by Chris Sekelyk 2:27 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Justin Bennett had a great game for Pickering, netting two goals. Bennett scored at 11:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pickering and again while 19:12 into the third to make the score 4-2 Pickering.

The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Pickering's offense rang up 36 shots on Milton's net.

Pickering also got points from Marco Azzano, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Pickering received assists from Kennedy Duguid, John Hudgin, Kyle Gentles, and Tiger McDonald, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Panthers to score on any of their three power plays.

Milton was helped by Sean Robertson, who finished with one goal. Robertson scored 11:46 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Pickering. Chris Cobham assisted on the tally. Milton also got a goal from Joseph Teofilo as well.

Paul Giusti recorded 18 saves for Pickering. The Panthers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Marcus Semiao made 32 saves for the Icehawks on 35 shots. Milton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
