Trenton hangs on, beats St. Michaels 2-1

Lucas Brown scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Trenton Golden Hawks held off the challenges of the St. Michaels Buzzers in a tough 2-1 win.

Trenton took over the lead for good with a goal by Brown at 47 seconds in the first period. Liam Morgan assisted on the tally.

The Golden Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 32 penalty minutes.

Trenton was paced by Kevin Lavoie, who grabbed one goal. Lavoie scored 10:41 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Brown picked up the assist.

The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six St. Michaels power plays. Trenton kept St. Michaels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Manolescu made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Trenton additionally got points from Brown, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Trenton received assists from Mitch Emerson, who had one.

The Buzzers' offense operated below their season average. St. Michaels averages 3.2 goals per game.

The Buzzers were led by Cameron Searles, who scored the team's only goal. Searles scored 17:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Sam Hunter assisted on the tally.

Daniel Urbani made 16 saves for the Golden Hawks on 17 shots. Trenton registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. St. Michaels incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
