Cobourg holds on for 3-2 win against Toronto Jr. CanadiensHarborCenter Tue, Sep 22, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Cobourg Cougars held on for a 3-2 victory. A goal by Rory Milne put Cobourg up 3-1 in the third period, but Toronto Jr. Canadiens pulled to within one on Lucas Colalillo's tally 16:14 into the third period. The Cougars were sparked by Milne, who had one goal. Milne scored 16:02 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Cobourg. Russell Nowry picked up the assist. Cobourg stifled the Junior Canadiens' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toronto Jr. Canadiens was unable to stop the Cougars from sending pucks towards the net, and Cobourg eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. Cobourg also got points from Anthony Salemi, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Brennan Roy also scored for Cobourg. More assists for Cobourg came via Tyler Lewis, Matthew Bumstead, Ryan OGrady, and Brenden Locke, who each chipped in one. The Junior Canadiens managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Toronto Jr. Canadiens finished below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game. Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got a goal from Anthony Trujillo as well. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Andrew Pucci, Justin Maiolino, and Troy Taylor, who contributed one each. Stefano Durante recorded 28 saves for the Cougars. Cobourg incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Daniel Lopapa made 29 saves for the Junior Canadiens on 32 shots. Toronto Jr. Canadiens registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
