Pickering falls to Oakville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Oakville Blades' Ryan Garvey scored 2:33 into overtime to beat the Pickering Panthers, 5-4 (OT).

Oakville overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Blades trailed 2-0 after a goal by Pickering's Chris Sekelyk at 6:03 in the second period. Oakville tied things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Josh Kosack at 10:46 in the third period.

Garvey was all over the ice for the Blades, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Garvey scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 15:21 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A high sticking penalty on Andrew Hughes had put Oakville on the power play. Brendan DAgostino provided the assist. Garvey's next tally on the power play made the score 5-4 Oakville with 17:27 left in overtime. Christian Rajic picked up the assist.

The Blades' offense rang up 35 shots on the Panthers' net.

Oakville also got a goal from Ethan Nother as well. Other players who recorded assists for Oakville were Jackson Bales, who had one and Patrick Kudla, who had two.

Pickering additionally got points from Kennedy Duguid, who also registered two goals and one assist. In addition, Pickering received assists from Marco Azzano, who had two and Doug Carter, John Hudgin, and Mitchell Waldron, who contributed one each.

Brendan McGlynn recorded 19 saves for Oakville. The Blades totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Oakville ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brayden Sampson was ejected from the game. Mathew Woroniuk rejected 30 shots on goal for Pickering. The Panthers incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
