Ewing, Newmarket blank Cobourg, 3-0

Dalton Ewing recorded a shutout against the Cobourg Cougars as the Newmarket Hurricanes picked up a 3-0 win.

Newmarket was led by Mark Rozanov, who registered one goal and one assist. Rozanov scored 15:51 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Newmarket. Todd Winder provided the assist.

The Hurricanes' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Cobourg power plays. Newmarket's defense was surprisingly good. The Hurricanes average 2.7 goals allowed per game.

Newmarket also had goals scored by Nick Kalpousos and Marco Bozzo, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Newmarket were Steve Mariani, who had one.

Cobourg could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Cougars put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. Cobourg forced Newmarket goalie Ewing to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Ewing recorded 33 saves for the Hurricanes. Newmarket incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Sheldon Calbury made 18 saves for the Cougars on 21 shots. Cobourg incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
