Toronto Jr. Canadiens outlasts Milton, 4-2

The Toronto Jr. Canadiens Junior Canadiens and the Milton Icehawks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Toronto Jr. Canadiens made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

The Junior Canadiens gained the winning advantage on a goal by Sal Filice 8:45 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

Lee Lapid had two goals and one assist to lead Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Lapid scored the first of his two goals at 17:52 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Lapid's next tally made the score 4-2 Toronto Jr. Canadiens with eight seconds left in the third period. Dakota Brancatella picked up the assist.

Milton was unable to stop the Junior Canadiens from sending pucks towards the net, and Toronto Jr. Canadiens eventually piled up 49 shots on goal. Penalties took their toll on the Junior Canadiens, as their penalty kill unit let in two power play goals.

Toronto Jr. Canadiens also got points from Filice, who also had one goal and one assist. Andrew Pucci also scored for Toronto Jr. Canadiens. In addition, Toronto Jr. Canadiens received assists from Adam DeLuca and Lucas Colalillo, who each chipped in one.

The Icehawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Milton was helped by Artem Suyargulov, who grabbed one goal. Suyargulov scored on the power play 18:32 into the second period to make the score 1-1. The Icehawks had taken the advantage when Toronto Jr. Canadiens' Lapid got sent off for goalie interference. Joseph Teofilo assisted on the tally. Milton additionally got points from Teofilo, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Sean Perichak, who had one and Anthony Baxter, who had two.

The Junior Canadiens' Daniel Lopapa stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Toronto Jr. Canadiens incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Anthony Coletta rejected 45 shots on goal for Milton. The Icehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
