Cobourg takes care of Kingston early, wins 10-2

The Kingston Voyageurs fell behind early, and the Cobourg Cougars kept piling on the points on the way to a 10-2 victory.

Brenden Locke was all over the ice for Cobourg, as he tallied two goals and three assists in the win. Locke scored the first of his two goals at 4:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Cobourg. Liam Grande picked up the assist. Locke's next tally made the score 8-0 Cobourg with 17:01 left in the third period. Grande provided the assist.

The Cougars' penalty kill excelled, as Cobourg gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Cougars stifled Kingston's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Cobourg found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Cougars average 4.4 goals per contest. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Cobourg additionally got points from Grande, who also finished with three goals and three assists, Sam Dunn, who also registered one goal and two assists, Anthony Salemi, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Brennan Roy, who also had one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Cobourg included Connor Inger and Theo Lewis, who each put in one. In addition, Cobourg received assists from Patrick MacDonald, who had two and Matthew Bumstead, Ryan OGrady, Josh Argier, Kallen McFarland, and Mac Lowry, who contributed one each.

Tyler Lewis made 19 saves for Cobourg on 21 shots. The Cougars incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Zach Springer made 11 saves before being replaced by David Poirier, who took the loss and made one save. The Voyageurs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
