Trenton squeaks by Whitby, 4-3

The game between the Trenton Golden Hawks and the Whitby Fury was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Trenton emerged with a 4-3 win.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Hunter Fargey at 11:08 of the third period.

The Golden Hawks pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 26 penalty minutes.

Trenton's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Golden Hawks were led by Adam Clements, who finished with two goals. Clements scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 16:17 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Trenton earned a power play opportunity when Jacob Durham was put in the box for too many men. Jordan Chard assisted on the tally. Clements' next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 11:01 left in the third period. Nicholas Turenko provided the assist. Trenton also got a goal from Owen Ramsay as well. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Mac Lewis, who had two and Brandon Marinello, Mitch Emerson, and Danny Hanlon, who contributed one each.

Whitby was led by Scott Kirton, who tallied two goals. Kirton scored the first of his two goals short handed at 38 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kirton's next tally short handed made the score 2-1 Whitby with 7:31 left in the second period. Rylee McKinnon also scored for Whitby. In addition, Whitby received assists from Ryan Porter and Ryan Taylor, who each chipped in one.

Daniel Urbani rejected 22 shots on goal for the Golden Hawks. Trenton registered one goal on six power play opportunities. The Fury's Austin Cain stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Whitby incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Fury ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kevin Dimagno was ejected from the game.
