Milton wins tough contest against Stouffville, 5-3Stouffville Arena Sat, Sep 12, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Milton Icehawks escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Stouffville Spirit. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Brett Markham at 3:37 of the third period. Milton got the win behind a great game by Joseph Teofilo, who had one goal and two assists. Teofilo scored on the power play 7:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Milton. The Icehawks had gained a power play chance when Jackson Savery was whistled for cross checking. Philip Lagunov picked up the assist. Milton also got points from Chris Martin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Milton included Sean Perichak and Brandon Sabatini, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Milton were Chris Cobham, who had two and Josh Chiarot and Artem Suyargulov, who contributed one each. Stouffville forced Milton goalie Marcus Semiao to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. The Spirit struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 62 penalty minutes for 15 opposing power plays. Stouffville was helped by Kyle Thomas, who racked up one goal. Thomas scored 8:38 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Zachary Roberts assisted on the tally. Stouffville additionally got points from Chad Burrows, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Christopher Brill-Morgan, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Stouffville received assists from Spencer Roberts and Cameron Lintner, who each chipped in one. The Icehawks' Semiao stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Milton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kyle Pescador rejected 24 shots on goal for the Spirit. Stouffville registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For the Spirit, Kyle Linney was ejected from the game.
