Whitby completes comeback, beats Kingston, 5-4Iroquois - Rink#1 Fri, Sep 11, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Whitby Fury rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Kingston Voyageurs. Whitby never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Fury fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Kingston's Anthony Rinaldi at 16:13 in the first period. Whitby tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Scott Kirton at 17:41 in the third period. The Fury scored the game winner at 18:24 in the third period on a goal by Kirton. Whitby could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game. The Fury were helped by Luke Keenan, who tallied three goals. Whitby also got points from Kirton, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Whitby also got a goal from Justin Allen as well. In addition, Whitby received assists from Nik Coric, Jonathan OHara, Ryan Porter, and Rylee McKinnon, who contributed one each and Justin Brand and Ryan Taylor, who each chipped in two. The Voyageurs' offense rang up 35 shots on Whitby's net. Kingston could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Others who scored for Kingston included Jacob Hanlon and Braedyn Asselstine, who each put in one. More assists for Kingston came via Mason Corliss, who had two and Connor Burns, Reid Russell, and Connor Cobbold, who contributed one each. Austin Cain rejected 31 shots on goal for the Fury. Whitby registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Zach Springer recorded 23 saves for the Voyageurs. Kingston registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
