Trenton beats Mississauga 3-2 after comeback scare

The Mississauga Chargers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Trenton Golden Hawks held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Danny Hanlon put Trenton up 3-0 in the second period, but Mississauga pulled to within one on Scott Docherty's tally 5:09 into the third period.

The Golden Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Chargers were unable to stop Trenton from sending pucks towards the net, and the Golden Hawks eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Trenton was helped by Brodie Butt, who finished with one goal. Butt scored 18:16 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Owen Ramsay provided the assist. Liam Morgan also scored for Trenton. In addition, Trenton received assists from Kevin Lavoie, Lucas Brown, Nicholas Turenko, and Hunter Fargey, who each chipped in one.

Mississauga was helped by Zack Ribau, who racked up one goal. Ribau scored 4:56 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Trenton. Ryan Markovic picked up the assist. More assists for Mississauga came via Alexandros Acosta and Michael Dischiavi, who contributed one each.

Troy Paquette recorded 18 saves for the Golden Hawks. Trenton incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Chargers' Tyler Richardson stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Mississauga incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
