Burlington downs St. Michaels, 6-3

Daniel Volpe racked up one point to lead the Burlington Cougars to a 6-3 victory over the St. Michaels Buzzers.

In the losing effort, St. Michaels was led by Sean Kohler, who tallied two goals. Kohler scored the first of his two goals at 4:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. Anthony Paveglio picked up the assist. Kohler's next tally made the score 5-3 Burlington with 11:26 left in the third period. Brad Cocca provided the assist.

Burlington forced the Buzzers' goaltenders to work without much rest, firing 43 shots and forcing 37 saves. Mark Manolescu made 35 stops and Jacob McGrath made two. The Cougars managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Burlington finished below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The defensemen of the Cougars were also effective in St. Michaels' zone, and came away with two goals.

Burlington also got points from Mike Faliero, who also had one goal and two assists and Nathan Gomes, who also registered two goals and one assist. Burlington also got a goal from Willy Paul as well. In addition, Burlington received assists from Jacob Ovens, who had one, Ben Morris, who had three, and David Thomson and Jack Jeffers, who contributed two each.

Thomas Beretta also scored for St. Michaels. Other players who recorded assists for St. Michaels were Dalton Barnes, who had two and Noah Jordan and A.J. Dorazio, who each chipped in one.

John Jeffries made three saves before being replaced by Andrew Lee, who took the win and made 11 saves. Burlington registered two goals on five power play opportunities. The Buzzers incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
