The Newmarket Hurricanes survived a determined comeback attempt by the Pickering Panthers on the way to a 5-4 win. Newmarket made the score 4-2 on a goal by Ryan Shaw at 2:55 in the second period, and Pickering got as close as 4-3 when Blake Coffey scored 4:31 into the third period. The Hurricanes were sparked by Nick Kalpousos, who racked up one goal. Kalpousos scored 18:13 into the third period to make the score 5-4 Newmarket. Curtis Harvey assisted on the tally. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Newmarket also got points from Dallas Baird, who also had one goal and one assist and Marty Lawlor, who also registered one goal and one assist. Newmarket also got a goal from Adam Smith as well. More assists for Newmarket came via Ryan Young and Jonathan Colley, who each chipped in one. The Panthers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. For Pickering, Duguid was ejected from the game.
