Newmarket erases deficit to stun Aurora, 3-2

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Newmarket Hurricanes battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Aurora Tigers.

Newmarket never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Hurricanes was down 2-0 after a goal by Aurora's Drake Board at 9:31 in the second period. Newmarket tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Nick Kalpousos at 9:30 in the third period. The Hurricanes got the game winner at 10:56 in the third period on a goal by Kalpousos.

Newmarket pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

The Hurricanes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Newmarket's offense rang up 39 shots on the Tigers' net. The Hurricanes' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Newmarket was helped by Mitchell Duggan, who tallied one goal. Newmarket also got a goal from Alex Ierullo as well. More assists for Newmarket came via Max Routledge, who had two and Andrew Breda, Christian Dedonato, Ryan Shaw, and Christian Cella, who each chipped in one.

Aurora stifled the Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Newmarket was unable to stop the Tigers from sending pucks towards the net, and Aurora eventually piled up 46 shots on goal. The Tigers struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 73 penalty minutes for 14 opposing power plays.

Aurora was helped by Brody Brunet, who registered one goal. Brunet scored 3:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aurora. Gregory Winder assisted on the tally. In addition, Aurora received assists from Alex Formenton, who had one.

Dalton Ewing rejected 44 shots on goal for the Hurricanes. Joshua Boyko made 36 saves for the Tigers on 39 shots. Team's Board, Keaton Ratcliffe, and Nolan Dunn were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
