Trenton uses early goal to top Kingston, 3-1

Lucas Brown scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Trenton Golden Hawks held off the challenges of the Kingston Voyageurs in a tough 3-1 win.

Brown provided Trenton with the game-winning tally when he scored 4:45 into the first period. Josh Allan assisted on the tally.

Kingston's power play was ineffective against the Golden Hawks' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Trenton was sparked by Hunter Fargey, who registered one goal. Fargey scored 8:00 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Trenton. Mitch Emerson provided the assist.

The Golden Hawks' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Kingston power plays. Trenton could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 20 minutes in penalties during the game.

Trenton also got a goal from Kevin Lavoie as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Liam Morgan, Blayne Oliver, and Danny Hanlon, who contributed one each.

The Voyageurs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Kingston's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Voyageurs finished with 24 penalty minutes.

Kingston was led by Anthony Rinaldi, who scored the team's only goal. Rinaldi scored 49 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Trenton.

The Golden Hawks' Daniel Urbani stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that he faced. David Poirier made 25 saves for the Voyageurs on 27 shots.
