The Burlington Cougars survived a determined comeback attempt by the Toronto Patriots Patriots on the way to a 3-2 win. Burlington made the score 3-0 on a goal by David Thomson at 18:36 in the first period, and Toronto Patriots got as close as 3-2 when Jeremy Pullara scored 16:43 into the third period. The Cougars stifled the Patriots' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Burlington forced Toronto Patriots goalie Sean OReilly to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Other players who recorded assists for Burlington were Daniel Volpe, who had two and Willy Paul, Zac Herrmann, Nathan Gomes, and Jack Jeffers, who contributed one each. The Patriots excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Jason DiPerna also scored for Toronto Patriots. In addition, Toronto Patriots received assists from Tyler Currie, Marco Bozzo, and Louis DiMatteo, who each chipped in one. Andrew Lee rejected 28 shots on goal for the Cougars. Burlington incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sean OReilly made 34 saves for Toronto Patriots on 37 shots. The Patriots incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
