Behind a great game by Mike Choma, who had two goals, the Burlington Cougars defeated the St. Michaels Buzzers, 6-3. Choma's tallies came at 5:31 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Burlington and 12:19 into the second to make the score 4-3 Burlington.Burlington's penalty kill excelled, as the Cougars gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Burlington kept St. Michaels' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Manolescu made 30 saves on 36 shots. The Cougars got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Burlington additionally got points from Nathan Gomes, who also registered one goal and one assist, Samuel Gagnon, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jack Jeffers, who also had one goal and one assist, and Daniel Volpe, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Burlington came via David Thomson, who had two and Willy Paul, Jordan Peacock, Devin Pierce, David Kiss, and Dante Felicetti, who contributed one each. The Buzzers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Burlington to score on any of its three power plays. St. Michaels was led by Thomas Beretta, who registered two goals. Beretta scored the first of his two goals at 4:33 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A.J. Dorazio picked up the assist. Beretta's next tally made the score 3-3 with 13:18 left in the second period. Dorazio assisted on the tally. St. Michaels also got a goal from Finn Evans as well. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Noah Jordan, who had two and Lucas Derose and Brad Cocca, who each chipped in one. John Jeffries made 26 saves for the Cougars on 29 shots. Burlington incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. For the Cougars, Felicetti was ejected from the game. The Buzzers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
