Wellington beats Orangeville 10-5 as Brown gets hat trick

Luc Brown lifted the Wellington Dukes to a 10-5 victory with a hat trick against the Orangeville Flyers.

Brown notched his first tally 6:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 27 seconds into the second and at 5:55 into the second.

Wellington forced Flyers' netminders to work in net, launching 32 shots and forcing 22 saves. Aidan Link made zero stops and Kasimir Krol made 22. The Dukes surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Wellington averages 3.3 goals per game.

Wellington also got points from Shaw Boomhower, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Jake Falcao, who also racked up one goal and two assists, Ben Sokay, who also had two goals and one assist, and Nick Devito, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wellington also had goals scored by Brodie Maracle and Griffin McCarty, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Wellington were Dorian Overland, who had two and Carter Allen, Jacob Hetherington, Jeff Christensen, Jacob Panetta, Colin Doyle, Aiden Girduckis, and Anthony Popovich, who contributed one each.

Orangeville kept the Dukes' goalie busy throughout the game, and Popovich made 30 saves on 35 shots. The Flyers' defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. Orangeville gives up 2.5 goals per game.

Wellington incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Flyers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
