Brown's big game bests Wellington in 8-2 Trenton win

Behind a great game by Lucas Brown, who had four goals and one assist, the Trenton Golden Hawks defeated the Wellington Dukes, 8-2.

Brown got on the scoresheet 31 seconds into the first period. He then added goals at 11:39 into the first, at 7:47 into the third, and at 10:17 into the third.

Trenton's penalty kill excelled, as the Golden Hawks gave up one goal despite allowing nine power plays.

Trenton surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Golden Hawks have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Trenton's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Golden Hawks finished with 28 penalty minutes.

Trenton additionally got points from Kevin Lavoie, who also registered two goals and three assists and Danny Hanlon, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Mitch Emerson also scored for Trenton. Other players who recorded assists for Trenton were Josh Allan, who had one, Liam Morgan, who had six, and Blayne Oliver and Hunter Fargey, who each chipped in two.

Wellington was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 28 penalty minutes.

The Dukes were helped by Dorian Overland, who tallied one goal. Overland scored 16:28 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Trenton. Griffin McCarty assisted on the tally. Wellington also got a goal from Ben Sokay as well. In addition, Wellington received assists from Carter Allen and Nick Devito, who contributed one each.

Trenton's Daniel Urbani stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Golden Hawks registered three goals on eight power play opportunities. Wellington's starting goalie, Austin Washkurak, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Anthony Popovich, who stopped two shots.
