Bao nets hat trick, leads East Vancouver to 7-6 win over Buds

Tony Bao netted a hat trick to lead East Vancouver over Buds, 7-6.

Bao got on the scoresheet 1:13 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:07 into the second and at 14:09 into the second.

The win gave East Vancouver a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

East Vancouver led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when East Vancouver's Daniel Chieu scored at 18:22 in the first period to put East Vancouver up 5-2.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

East Vancouver additionally got points from Vik Saggu, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Arvinder Benga, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Chieu, who also tallied two goals and one assist. In addition, East Vancouver received assists from Jonathan Randazzo and Ryan Grice, who each chipped in one.

Buds' offense rang up 34 shots on East Vancouver's net.

Buds was helped by Colby Redekop, who registered four goals. Buds also got points from Jon Bautista, who also had one goal and one assist. Erick Bautista also scored for Buds. Other players who recorded assists for Buds were Stefan Dietz, who had two, Steve Tajiri, who had four, and Dave Nguyen, Irvin Kwong, Sashi Parekh, and AJ Partiak, who contributed one each.

Andrew Guolo made 28 saves for East Vancouver on 34 shots. East Vancouver incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brian Brubaker rejected 21 shots on goal for Buds. Buds incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
