Huge game by Leung boosts SGO Hockey Club over Teambag, 8-6

Behind a great game by Edwin Leung, who had four goals and one assist, SGO Hockey Club defeated Teambag, 8-6.

Leung notched his first tally 6:32 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:27 into the first, at 17:51 into the first, and at 3:00 into the second.

The win gave SGO Hockey Club a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

SGO Hockey Club got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed five goals during the game.

SGO Hockey Club additionally got points from Colman Tam, who also registered one goal and four assists to lead the team in points. Mike Law also scored for SGO Hockey Club. In addition, SGO Hockey Club received assists from John Wong, who had two, Farouk Babul, who had three, and Ying Joe, Shafeen Jinnah, and Farhad Abdulla, who contributed one each.

Teambag forced SGO Hockey Club goalie Hoi Leung to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Teambag did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Teambag was led by Kevin Cameron, who finished with two goals and three assists. Cameron scored the first of his two goals at 11:39 into the first period to make the score 4-2 SGO Hockey Club. Michael Zima picked up the assist. Cameron's next tally made the score 6-3 SGO Hockey Club with 3:05 left in the first period. Nathan Fretz provided the assist. Teambag also got points from Rob Eakin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Zima, who also had one goal and two assists. Teambag also got a goal from Anton Verenitch as well. Other players who recorded assists for Teambag were Jamie Tolliday, who had one.

Leung rejected 27 shots on goal for SGO Hockey Club. SGO Hockey Club avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored one goal off of one power plays. Teambag's Kieran Wasylyshyn stopped 18 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Teambag registered zero goals on zero power play opportunities.
