Squirtle Squad uses early goal to top HYP 2 0, 4-2

Squirtle Squad beat HYP two zero, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Squirtle Squad took over the lead for good with a goal by Raymond Ng at 17:02 in the first period. Nelson Ma picked up the assist.

The win gave Squirtle Squad a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Squirtle Squad was led by Michael Nhan, who tallied one goal. Nhan scored short handed 6:13 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Squirtle Squad. Squirtle Squad found itself down a man on Ted Chang's tripping.

Squirtle Squad put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow HYP two zero to score on any of its three power plays. Squirtle Squad got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Squirtle Squad additionally got points from Eric Siu, who also registered one goal and one assist. Squirtle Squad also got a goal from Richard Bond as well.

The defensemen of HYP two zero were also effective in Squirtle Squad's zone, and came away with two goals.

HYP two zero was helped by Zachary Turner, who grabbed one goal. Turner scored short handed 3:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Squirtle Squad. A delay of game call on Jason Sharples put HYP two zero on the penalty kill. Andy Wong also scored for HYP two zero. More assists for HYP two zero came via Eric Rachjuck and Joshua Sun, who each chipped in one.

Squirtle Squad's Ryan Dun stopped 17 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Squirtle Squad incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nilesh Sharma rejected 18 shots on goal for HYP two 0. HYP 2 zero incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
