Koopa 2's comeback falls short, Squirtle Squad wins 3-1

Koopa two almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but Squirtle Squad managed to pull out a 3-1 win in the end.

Squirtle Squad led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Squirtle Squad's Eric Siu scored at 11:16 in the second period to put Squirtle Squad up 3-0.

The win gave Squirtle Squad a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Squirtle Squad was sparked by Michelle Lau, who tallied one goal. Lau scored 2:39 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Squirtle Squad. Ted Chang assisted on the tally.

Koopa two was unable to stop Squirtle Squad from sending pucks towards the net, and Squirtle Squad eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Squirtle Squad also got points from Richard Bond, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Siu, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Squirtle Squad were Brian Huang, Nelson Ma, and Danille Lew, who each chipped in one.

Koopa two did not rack up many penalties in the contest, finishing with only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

Koopa two was led by John Hoang, who scored the team's only goal. Hoang scored on the power play 15:43 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Squirtle Squad. A tripping penalty on Siu had put Koopa two on the power play. Gordon Tan picked up the assist.

Ryan Dun made 20 saves for Squirtle Squad on 21 shots. Squirtle Squad incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mark Leith recorded 30 saves for Koopa two. Koopa two registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
