Caledonia wins tough contest against LaSalle, 4-3Vollmer Recreation Complex Wed, Apr 29, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Caledonia Corvairs and the LaSalle Vipers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Caledonia made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Cosimo Fontana's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, LaSalle faces elimination next time out. Matthew Hore had one goal and two assists to lead the Corvairs. Hore scored on the power play 13:03 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Caledonia. Caledonia had taken the advantage when the Vipers' Daniel Beaudoin got sent off for slashing. Tyler Lepore picked up the assist. The Corvairs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five LaSalle power plays. LaSalle was unable to stop Caledonia from sending pucks towards the net, and the Corvairs eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Others who scored for Caledonia included Erick Delaurentis and Ryan Blunt, who scored one goal each. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Nathan Gomes, who had one and Connor Bramwell and Austin McEneny, who contributed two each. The Vipers were helped by Liam McDougall, who grabbed one goal. McDougall scored 19:13 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia. Nikko Sablone provided the assist. LaSalle additionally got points from Tyler Russell, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. LaSalle also got a goal from Manny Silverio as well. Other players who recorded assists for LaSalle were Korey Morgan, who had one. Kevin Entmaa rejected 22 shots on goal for Caledonia. The Corvairs incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Paolo Battisti made 29 saves for LaSalle on 33 shots. The Vipers incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
