Blunt's goals lift Caledonia to 6-2 victory over Leamington

Ryan Blunt had two goals to lead the Caledonia Corvairs to a 6-2 victory over the Leamington Flyers.

Blunt scored on the power play at 17:03 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 18:37 into the second to make the score 4-2 Caledonia.

The win gave Caledonia a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Corvairs pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 24 penalty minutes.

Caledonia forced Leamington goalie Michael Barrett to work between the pipes, taking 41 shots. The Corvairs took advantage of the Flyers' penalties, tallying five goals off of seven power play opportunities.

Caledonia additionally got points from Erick Delaurentis, who also had two goals and two assists and Tyler Lepore, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jake Brown also scored for Caledonia. In addition, Caledonia received assists from Austin McEneny, who had one, Jordan Peacock, who had three, and Matthew Hore, who had five.

Leamington was helped by Alex Friesen, who registered one goal. Friesen scored on the power play 9:39 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Caledonia. The Flyers had gotten the advantage when Caledonia's Connor Bramwell was sent off for high sticking. Tyler Duarte assisted on the tally. Leamington also got a goal from Zack Guilbeault as well. More assists for Leamington came via Colin Moore, Mitchell Amante, and Zak Parlette, who each chipped in one.

Kevin Entmaa recorded 19 saves for the Corvairs. For Caledonia, Todd Ratchford was ejected from the game. Michael Barrett made 35 saves for Leamington on 41 shots. The Flyers incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Team's Ryan Shipley and Travis Campbell were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
