Knoxville downs Louisiana in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Knoxville Ice Bears pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Louisiana IceGators on a clutch goal by Dennis Sicard.

The win by Knoxville clinched the best of three series at 2-0.

The Ice Bears were paced by Sicard, who tallied one goal. Sicard scored 11:50 into to make the score 5-4 Knoxville. Jason Price assisted on the tally.

Knoxville was led by Sicard, who racked up one goal.

The Ice Bears' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Louisiana power plays. Knoxville kept Louisiana's goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Diebold made 28 saves on 33 shots.

Knoxville additionally got points from Ben Power, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Knoxville included Berkley Scott, Sy Nutkevitch, and Eric Satim, who each put in one. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Francis Drolet, who had two and Robbie Donahoe, Ryan Hill, and Brett Valliquette, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Bears were unable to stop the IceGators from sending pucks towards the net, and Louisiana eventually piled up 53 shots on goal.

The IceGators were helped by Chris Wilson, who registered two goals. Wilson scored the first of his two goals at 16:15 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Louisiana. Stephen Buco picked up the assist. Wilson's next tally made the score 4-3 Louisiana with 9:08 left in the third period. Louisiana also got points from Jake Hauswirth, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jeremy Boyer, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Louisiana came via Brian Berger, who had one and Kirk Byczynski, who had two.

Bryan Hince rejected 49 shots on goal for Knoxville. The Ice Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Louisiana incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
