The Knoxville Ice Bears survived a determined comeback attempt by the Louisiana IceGators on the way to a 3-2 win. Knoxville made the score 3-1 on a goal by Eric Satim at 14:28 in the third period, and Louisiana got as close as 3-2 when Bret Peppler scored 15:32 into the third period. After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, the IceGators face elimination next time out. The Ice Bears were paced by Satim, who registered one goal and one assist. Knoxville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Ben Power, Berkley Scott and Josh Cousineau took 12 of the team's 20 shots. Knoxville additionally got points from Power, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Knoxville received assists from Dennis Sicard, who had one and Francis Drolet, who had two. Louisiana forced the Ice Bears goalie Bryan Hince to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Benjamin Rubin also scored for Louisiana. More assists for Louisiana came via Adam Stuart and Kirk Byczynski, who each chipped in one. Bryan Hince made 30 saves for Knoxville on 32 shots. The Ice Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Scott Diebold recorded 17 saves for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
