The El Paso Rhinos climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat the Idaho Junior Steelheads, 4-3. El Paso Rhinos never led in the game until netting the game winner. El Paso Rhinos trailed 3-0 after a goal by Idaho Junior Steelheads' Robert Neuwirth at 7:35 in the first period. El Paso Rhinos knotted things up at 3-3 on a short handed goal by Kendal Craig at 15:31 in the second period. El Paso Rhinos scored the game winner at 19:50 in the second period on a goal by Craig.
The win gave El Paso Rhinos a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. Jiri Pestuka was all over the ice for El Paso Rhinos, as he grabbed two goals in the win. El Paso Rhinos stifled Idaho Junior Steelheads' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Marek Langhammer also scored for El Paso Rhinos. In addition, El Paso Rhinos received assists from Brennan Johnsson, Gavin Abbott, and Martin Hanl, who each chipped in one and Bryton Tomko and Sebastian Borg, who contributed two each. Idaho Junior Steelheads was helped by Johannes Yucel, who registered one goal and one assist. Yucel scored 7:22 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Arturs Sevcenko picked up the assist. Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Victor Carlsson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Adam Vay made one save before being replaced by Alek Lazarski, who took the win and made 22 saves. El Paso Rhinos incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Tyler Hough rejected 20 shots on goal for Idaho Junior Steelheads. Idaho Junior Steelheads avoided the penalty box for the entire game and scored zero goals off of three power plays.
