Peoria falls to Louisiana in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Louisiana IceGators' Stephen Buco scored 18:58 into overtime to beat the Peoria Rivermen, 3-2 (OT).

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Peoria faces elimination next time out.

Louisiana was paced by Buco, who racked up one goal.

The IceGators excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Louisiana forced the Rivermen goalie Kyle Rank to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Louisiana additionally got points from Jake Hauswirth, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jordan Ciccarello also scored for Louisiana. Other players who recorded assists for Louisiana were Dan Cornell, Benjamin Rubin, Brian Berger, Jeremy Boyer, and Kirk Byczynski, who contributed one each.

Peoria put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the IceGators to score on any of their five power plays. Louisiana was unable to stop the Rivermen from sending pucks towards the net, and Peoria eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

The Rivermen were helped by Garrett Vermeersch, who finished with one goal. Vermeersch scored 3:40 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Peoria also got a goal from Ben Oskroba as well. In addition, Peoria received assists from Alec Hagaman, who had one.

Scott Diebold rejected 36 shots on goal for the IceGators. Louisiana incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Rank recorded 28 saves for Peoria. The Rivermen incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
