Fresno Monsters tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but Idaho Junior Steelheads held on for a 3-1 victory. Idaho Junior Steelheads made the score 3-0 on a goal by Macky Power at 7:59 in the third period, and Fresno Monsters got as close as 3-1 when Conner Hyden scored 19:47 into the third period. The win by Idaho Junior Steelheads clinched the best of three series at 2-0. Fresno Monsters was stymied by Idaho Junior Steelheads' netminder Tyler Hough, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Despite the solid performance, Hough will actually see his goals against average rise, as it stood at 0.9 entering the contest. Idaho Junior Steelheads excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in nine chances. Idaho Junior Steelheads was helped by Oleg Losev, who racked up one goal. Losev scored 13:27 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Phil Fromberger provided the assist. Idaho Junior Steelheads also got a goal from Victor Carlsson as well. In addition, Idaho Junior Steelheads received assists from Johannes Yucel, who had two and Kris Apsitis, Ryan Cutter, and Kyle TenEyck, who each chipped in one. Idaho Junior Steelheads totaled 44 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors and two majors and went 2-for-8 on the power play. Idaho Junior Steelheads ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Losev was ejected from the game. Nathan Churchill recorded 19 saves for Fresno Monsters. Fresno Monsters ended with 48 minutes in penalty time with 14 minors and two majors.
