Leamington penalty kill dominates in 6-3 defeat of LaSalle

The Leamington Flyers, which found themselves down a man often, weathered the LaSalle Vipers' power play opportunities and emerged with a 6-3 victory.

The win gave Leamington a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

In the losing effort, LaSalle was paced by Brendan Harrogate, who grabbed two goals. Harrogate scored the first of his two goals at 7:24 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Leamington. Nathan Savage picked up the assist. Harrogate's next tally made the score 4-3 Leamington with 11:36 left in the third period. The Vipers had gained a power play chance when Mitchell Amante was whistled for holding. Nathan Veres assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, LaSalle was led by Harrogate, who had two goals.

The Vipers were unable to stop the Flyers from sending pucks towards the net, and Leamington eventually piled up 36 shots on goal.

The Flyers were helped by Kyle Quick, who registered one goal. Quick scored 9:05 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Leamington. Eric Henderson picked up the assist. Leamington additionally got points from Henderson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Leamington included Alex Friesen, who had two and Colin Moore and Matthew Opblinger, who each put in one. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau, Tyler Duarte, Alex Derksen, Ryan Shipley, Cale Allen, Chris Scott, and Kyle Perkowski, who contributed one each.

LaSalle's offense rang up 35 shots on Leamington's net.

Korey Morgan also scored for LaSalle. In addition, LaSalle received assists from Chris Pignanelli, Mark Manchurek, Daniel Beaudoin, and Brett Primeau, who each chipped in one.

The Flyers' Michael Barrett stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Leamington incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Paolo Battisti rejected 30 shots on goal for the Vipers. LaSalle incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
