Ethan Skinner netted a hat trick to lead the Elmira Sugar Kings over the Stratford Cullitons, 5-1. Skinner got on the scoresheet 11:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:26 into the second and at 19:13 into the third.The win by Elmira clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. Stratford was stymied by the Sugar Kings' netminder Jonathan Reinhart, who stopped 32 shots during the victory. Reinhart certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.01 entering the contest. Elmira forced the Cullitons goalie Nicholas Caldwell to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Others who scored for Elmira included Mitch Klie and Brendan Schneider, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Elmira were Mitch Wright, who had one and Adam Brubacher and Alex Mutton, who each chipped in two. Stratford's offense rang up 33 shots on the Sugar Kings' net. The Cullitons did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling only one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Stratford was led by Deven Kropf, who scored the team's only goal. Kropf scored 10:34 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Elmira. Trevor Sauder picked up the assist. Elmira incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Nicholas Caldwell made 30 saves for the Cullitons on 34 shots. Stratford registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. |
