Dundas downs Brantford in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Dundas Real McCoys pulled out a 5-4 (OT) overtime victory over the Brantford Blast on a clutch goal by Cam Watson.

The win gave Dundas a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Real McCoys overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Dundas was down 4-2 after a power play goal by Brantford's Chris Rebernik at 5:44 in the third period. The Real McCoys tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Brad Bonello at 18:12 in the third period.

Curtis Campbell had a great game for Dundas, netting two goals. Campbell scored at 13:06 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Dundas and again while 9:35 into the third to make the score 4-3 Brantford.

The Real McCoys forced the Blast goalie Brett Leggat to work between the pipes, taking 44 shots.

Dundas additionally got points from Simon Mangos, who also registered one goal and three assists. More assists for Dundas came via Darryl Smith, who had one and Jordan Foreman, who had two.

Brantford excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Dundas was unable to stop the Blast from sending pucks towards the net, and Brantford eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

The Blast were led by Jamie Williams, who tallied one goal and one assist. Williams scored 11:02 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Brantford. Derek Medeiros assisted on the tally. Brantford also got points from Rebernik, who also had one goal and one assist. Brantford also had goals scored by Mark Taylor and Mike Burgoyne, who scored one goal each. In addition, Brantford received assists from Cam Sault and Kevin Christmas, who each chipped in two.

Mike Mole recorded 37 saves for the Real McCoys. Dundas incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Brett Leggat made 39 saves for Brantford on 44 shots. The Blast incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
