Joe Burgmeier gave the North Iowa Bulls the lead in the first period, and the West Michigan Wolves was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 2-0. Burgmeier provided North Iowa with the game-winning tally when he scored 7:27 into the first period. Brett Gravelle provided the assist.The win gave the Bulls a 1-0 lead in the best of one series. Chris Amsden spearheaded the defensive effort for North Iowa, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 25 saves for the shutout. Amsden managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.0 prior to the game. The Bulls were led by Burgmeier, who had one goal and one assist. North Iowa's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three West Michigan power plays. The Bulls kept West Michigan's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Vorva made 41 saves on 43 shots. North Iowa also got a goal from Johnny Panvica as well. North Iowa incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Wolves incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. |
