Idaho Junior Steelheads rolls over Missoula Maulers, 5-1

Idaho Junior Steelheads had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over Missoula Maulers.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Missoula Maulers faces elimination next time out.

Kyle Williams had a great game for Idaho Junior Steelheads, netting two goals. Williams scored at 8:50 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Idaho Junior Steelheads and again while short handed 8:06 into the third to make the score 5-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads.

Idaho Junior Steelheads' penalty kill excelled, as Idaho Junior Steelheads gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Idaho Junior Steelheads stifled Missoula Maulers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Idaho Junior Steelheads additionally got points from Johannes Yucel, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Idaho Junior Steelheads included Kyle Kruenegel and Arturs Sevcenko, who each put in one. More assists for Idaho Junior Steelheads came via Kris Apsitis, who had two and Parker Lewis, Nikita Zgirskis, Oleg Losev, Victor Carlsson, Macky Power, Dimitris Jones, and Kyle TenEyck, who contributed one each.

Missoula Maulers was led by Sam Sevcik, who scored the team's only goal. Sevcik scored 11:12 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Idaho Junior Steelheads. Alex Shalamov assisted on the tally.

Tyler Hough made 14 saves for Idaho Junior Steelheads on 15 shots. Idaho Junior Steelheads totaled 47 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 2-for-12 on the power play. Noah Parker recorded 21 saves for Missoula Maulers. Missoula Maulers incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
