Valencia Flyers downs Fresno Monsters in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Valencia Flyers pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Fresno Monsters on a clutch goal by Luc Whyte.

After the loss made the series score 1-0 in the best of three series, Fresno Monsters faces elimination next time out.

Valencia Flyers almost relinquished a two-score lead. Valencia Flyers made the score 2-0 on a goal by Ray Wilson at 13:37 in the first period. Fresno Monsters got to within 2-1 on a power play goal by Conner Hyden at 4:10 in the third period.

Whyte was all over the ice for Valencia Flyers, as he tallied two goals in the win. Whyte's tallies came at 10:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Valencia Flyers and 7:06 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Valencia Flyers.

Valencia Flyers additionally got points from Wilson, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Valencia Flyers came via Jakob Kranabetter, who had one and Blake Aguilar, who had two.

Fresno Monsters' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Valencia Flyers power plays. Fresno Monsters' offense rang up 51 shots on Valencia Flyers' net.

Evan Ingram also scored for Fresno Monsters. In addition, Fresno Monsters received assists from Michael Freeman, who had two and Brantt Heble and Carter Dahl, who each chipped in one.

Valencia Flyers' Silvan Delb stopped 49 shots out of the 51 that he faced. Valencia Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Fresno Monsters took out Nathan Churchill after he had made seven saves and installed Austin Piquette in goal, where he finished with 20 saves and the otl. Fresno Monsters incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
