OAKVILLE outlasts DURHAM WEST, 4-2

OAKVILLE gutted out a close 4-2 win against DURHAM WEST.

OAKVILLE gained the winning advantage on a goal by Olivia Atkinson 8:26 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

With the win, OAKVILLE avoided elimination to make the series score 2-3 in the best of five series.

Loren Gabel had two goals and one assist to lead OAKVILLE. Gabel scored the first of her two goals at 12:23 into the first period to make the score 1-0 OAKVILLE. Lauren Patterson assisted on the tally. Gabel's next tally made the score 2-2 with 13:19 left in the third period. Emma Maltais picked up the assist.

OAKVILLE additionally got points from Amy Curlew, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, OAKVILLE received assists from Madison Field (A), who had two.

DURHAM WEST was helped by Charlea Pedersen, who registered one goal. Pedersen scored 2:38 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Dakota Waites provided the assist. Alyssa Gee (A) also scored for DURHAM WEST. More assists for DURHAM WEST came via Emily Jukosky, Alexandra Maw, and Saroya Tinker, who contributed one each.

Nikki Cece rejected 17 shots on goal for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Rebecca Clark took the loss and made 22 saves before being replaced by Tera Hofmann who made zero saves. DURHAM WEST totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. DURHAM WEST ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kaitlyn McManus (A) was ejected from the game.
