STONEY CREEK blows out CAMBRIDGE, 4-0

STONEY CREEK had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-0 win over CAMBRIDGE.

The win gave STONEY CREEK a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.

STONEY CREEK got the win with help from a great game by Kayla Vespa, who had two goals and one assist. Vespa scored the first of her two goals at 5:52 into the first period to make the score 1-0 STONEY CREEK. Jessica Brown provided the assist. Vespa's next tally made the score 4-0 STONEY CREEK with 27 seconds left in the third period.

STONEY CREEK excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

STONEY CREEK also got points from Kristin ONeill (A), who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Sarah Quaranta (C) also scored for STONEY CREEK. More assists for STONEY CREEK came via Rachael Smith, who had one and Laura Crowdis (A), who had two.

CAMBRIDGE's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four STONEY CREEK power plays. STONEY CREEK's defense shut down CAMBRIDGE's forwards for much of the game, and CAMBRIDGE got off only nine shots during the contest.

Sarah McDonnell recorded nine saves for STONEY CREEK. STONEY CREEK incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. CAMBRIDGE's Julia Vandyk stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that she faced. CAMBRIDGE incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
